I’d be hard pressed these days to recognize most bishops, except our own, and probably couldn’t pick one out in a police line-up (not that that should be necessary). I hope he’s OK about being associated with a magazine that encourages people to spend a year’s wages on a one day fantasy blow-out. In the low wage economy of this part of the country, young couples are struggling to find and keep a job that pays anything like decent money, struggling to get on the housing ladder, struggling to find village primary schools for their children to go to, post offices and pubs that are still open, a phone box that works when there's no mobile coverage, public transport to get them anywhere they want to go. And the rich folks think they can come up and buy the rural churches along with everything else in the weekend holiday park they are creating. We should not be encouraging this kind of thing.
